On the southwestern of continental Europe, Portugal is an old prepare country. Lisbon is the capital and largest city of Portugal and is located on the Atlantic coast in inside the country. I went to Lisbon two years ago, but only for a few days. Every day I come away with the impression of style.
Arriving by bus, your first liking of Lisbon is when you march out of the coach station directly onto the beach of the dock. If you walk toward west from the bridge, you'll find "Monument of Discoveries", that is built to celebrates the Portuguese who took part in the Age of Discovery of the 15th and 16th centuries.
From the monument, you can view in distance, the statue of Christo Rei (Christ The King).
As you saunter into Lisbon, everything wash and relaxed. There are walking only streets with cafes and garden areas. Bringing to demur San Francisco again, there cable cars operation though the center of the city. I can't tell you why, but Lisbon is a very low stress city on both the opinion and the wallet. It is inferior and a good destination for budget travelers.
